Roles & Commitments

Peer Buddy 

 

A peer buddy commits to a one to one friendship with a person with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They are required at the minimum to do two activities with their buddy and attend Best Buddies FAU meetings/activities.

They are also encouraged to attend

regional events hosted by Best Buddies Palm Beach

(ex. Friendship Walk).

Associate Member

 

An associate member commitment is much more laid back than the peer buddy position. It is a role in which you are only required to attend meetings/activities hosted by Best Buddies FAU. You along with others are matched with a buddy but have no minimum commitment requirements in your friendship with your buddy. You are encouraged to go above and beyond with this position but it is what you make it. This is much more flexible for people with very tight schedules and may have circumstances that prevent them from taking the full commitment of a peer buddy

Volunteer

 

A volunteer role is a member of Best Buddies FAU but can participate in any of the various volunteer opportunities set forward by Best Buddies FAU. There is no requirement in attending any meetings/events hosted by Best Buddies FAU or Best Buddies Palm Beach but a volunteer is more than welcome to. This membership role is not matched to a buddy
